We only obtain wood from forests that adhere to responsible forest management principles, by FSC® and PEFC™ certifications.
Many people are aware and familiar with FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certified material. FSC® certification ensures that products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits, however many are not aware of PEFC™ .
PEFC™ certified (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) – is the world’s largest forest certification system, an international, non-profit, non-governmental organization which promotes sustainable forest management through independent third-party certification. At PEFC™ , they care for forests globally and locally. They work to protect our forests by promoting sustainable forest management through certification. This means we can all benefit from the many products that forests provide now, while ensuring these forests will be around for generations to come. “The stewardship and use of forests and forest lands in a way, and at a rate, that maintains their biodiversity, productivity, regeneration capacity”.
